The past day a couple of us have been discussing ram pressure stripping. Now in my search for examples I came across two galaxies with features that may be attributed to ram pressure stripping. HOWEVER the galaxies are NOT in a cluster, so what is happening here? Interaction with dark matter? Or not ram pressure stripping but something else entirely?
I am not an expert on ram pressure stripping, but I believe the identification of that phenomenon is made by more than just morphological features. For more information you might be interested in the papers of from e.g. Kenney, Crowl, Abramson et al, etc...
I wish I had time to research this more with you but unfortunately I don't -- however I'd encourage you to look into the top 2 cases in particular as they might be interesting.
