CANDELS filters/bands, and cameras; redshifts too

  • JeanTate by JeanTate

I worked out, once, what the three filters - H, I and J - are, that the Hubble images use, when displayed in GZ for us zooites to classify. And somewhere there's mention of what cameras are used with which filters. Too, the redshift range over which a z=0 SDSS gri image would map reasonably well to a CANDELS one.

But I can't find all this, quickly, in one place!

So I thought I'd start a thread, here in the Science Board of the GZ Talk, with questions. Can any of the GZ Science Team answer please?

One part I'm particularly interested in: at what redshifts are the following features more or less central, to each of the CANDELS bands/filters? H-alpha/[NII], H-beta/[OIII], the 400nm break, and [OII]

(and does one say 'band'? or 'filter'? and when is one term more appropriate than the other?)
