That is a foreground star from our own Galaxy - The Milky Way 😃
As they are so close (compared to the galaxies we are viewing), the brightness overwhelms the camera, and unusual optical artifacts are caused. That is what causes the really strange colours!

It's taken a while, but zookeeperKyle has posted some detailed explanations of how, in UKIDSS images, stars can appear as "strange jet-like objects" (and explanations of other artifacts too).
