Nearby galaxies, value of red shift

  • v3nom by v3nom

I have asked this question shortly after classification, but scientific discussion seems to be better place.

I found in SDSS database that red shift of bottom spiral is: z = 0.11778 ± 0.00001 (0.118 rounded). There is no spectrum for center spiral unfortunately. How far (value of red shift) would it have to be, to consider both as nearby galaxies and possible mergers?

    Thanks
