Local Orphan Galaxies. The LOG galaxies are located in the regions where the mean local density of matter is approximately 50 times lower than the mean global density. Here's a really interesting paper.

I wrote an OotD (Object of the Day, a section of the Galaxy Zoo forum) on this paper, and some LOGs, in 2011: Wednesday, 13th April, 2011: LOGs, Waveney, and dark halos, and followed it up with another OotD (also on LOGs): Wednesday, 4th May, 2011: Galaxies, type -3 to 10.
