possible Nova?

Is it possible that this is a supernova remnant with the associated neutron star in the center? Or would the resulting cloud be more spherical?

This is definitely a galaxy. You could go for disturbed spiral or irregular. The blue clumps are str forming regions in the galaxy.

The main reason it cannot be an SNR (supernova remnant) is that its spectrum is completely unlike that of an SNR. For starters, it has a redshift of ~0.03, so it's waaaaay beyond the edge of our own galaxy, making it super-ginormous in size (for an SNR).
