Star-Forming at Work!

It appears that this may have been an elliptical that may have had a recent encounter with a spiral of fair size, causing at least three or four blue star-forming regions throughout.

Those blue dots are star forming regions in the galaxy

So does that mean that blue stars tell that a galaxy is young?

That is one explanation. it could also be that this galaxy had an encounter with another galaxy and that can also trigger star formation.
