Gravitational Cannibalism.

Could this be a case of a black hole 'sucking' stars out of the old elliptical galaxy, causing the regeneration of new stars (the blue masses) mixed with old star masses that transferred without effect or were in the vicinity prior? The anvil shape with the huge, relatively empty central region is something I would appreciate feedback on, especially from a scientist who may have studied such phenomenon, or at least theorised regarding this.

The galaxy to the right looks like a very disturbed spiral to me.
