Peculiar objects

    The objects in this image are puzzling. The two in the middle look like two solid objects colliding and the surrounding objects have similar coloring which to me suggest they may be related ... but what are they? Stars? Galaxies?

    All the objects in this image are stars from our galaxy. And the two in the center only appear to be touching. No colliding going on here !
