There appears to be an outflow from the centre of this galaxy-- a bubble.

Outflow of ionized gas (hot hydrogen) is
green when "nearby" Thursday 5th November 2009: M82 and Cosmic Rays http://www.galaxyzooforum.org/index.php?topic=276620.msg393236#msg393236
so it would become red, as galaxies become redshifted when they are further away.
But I think that object has the redness of a star in our galaxy, so I would say it is a overlap.
It could be a distant galaxy.
It could be a distant galaxy being gravitationally lensed by the nucleus of a edge-on spiral galaxy. We are hoping to find these, but there is nothing red on the other side of the nucleus.
