    What could be the cause of starbursts at one end of the galaxy?

    1. Does the galaxy come into contact with interstellar dust and gas?

    2. A recent flyby of another galaxy?

    3, Dark galaxies?

    These are likely quite low mass (irregular) galaxies which just happen to have a star forming knot at one end. I agree they're super odd looking, but the Universe is a really big place!
