Spiral arms or expanding gas rings? Suspicious of massive Supernova.

  • stuart_thomas by stuart_thomas

There appears to be a fuzzy circular galaxy with bright central bulge, overlaying this are two bright rings at angles/positions which are reminiscent of the expanding gas rings of a supernova explosion similar in nature to the cats eye nebula. The rings having brighter outer edges. These rings are clearly angled differently to the plane of the galaxy but about 50% of the size of the galaxy diameter. This would make them massive - so is this a galaxy or supernova (perhaps in the foreground) - but it does appear to be contiguous with the galaxy - odd?

The does not appear to be any nearby structure which would account for galactic plane warping.

Hi stuart thomas and welcome to the Zoo

I see a fuzzy spiral galaxy. Definitely no supernova here, sorry.

    Happy hunting ! 😄
