Interesting galaxy - possible merger or just tremendous starbursts?

I flagged it as a merger based on that bright glow near the bottom of the galaxy and the possibility of it being a smaller galaxy interacting with the larger one, producing the huge, bright right-half of the main galaxy's disk. I suppose this galaxy's odd shape could be caused by something else - either way, what an interesting subject!

Hi Mhannum and welcome to the Zoo
This is just one very disturbed galaxy. The clumps are active star forming areas in the galaxy.
It does look like it is interacting with the smaller galaxy at the top.

That is a beautiful image!! How I'd love to see this galaxy at a distance of M31. Where did that color photo come from?
Thanks for commenting!
