In the bottom right there seems to be a very (comparably) small galaxy that seems to be merging onto the bigger. Opinions?

I'm not sure what object you are referring to, but here is the field in SDSS, centered on the bright object in the bottom right corner:
That bright object (SDSS J074005.82+291014.9 to give it its formal name) is a star. The faint smudge to its upper left (NE) could be a small and/or faint galaxy; however, we have no way to tell - from the data we have at hand - whether it's anywhere near the spiral galaxy that's in the center of the DECaLS image; it could be far in the background, or much closer (in the foreground) ...
