  Very likely it's a star. As this is an Illustris sim, it's part of the 'canvass' on which the simulated galaxy (or galaxies, perhaps, in this case) have been pasted. Illustris is, IMHO, a really cool GZ project, but its images are not really like SDSS ones (much less DECaLS ones). More on Illustris in this recent GZ blog post.
