The gravity has broken through this like a burst balloon and then become totally obscure without any trace for gravity but for the small bright center. and a loose hanging galactic arm. Probably a "shine where dense" effect in relation to the amount of star matter being lower than the gravity needed to form stars, so that the result has a liquidy look to it, like the "non stuff" that makes larger galaxies.
