Spiral Arms Present

Just wanted to state an idea, that although spiral arms are not immediately visible to the eye, or visible at all, we know that they are present in a form of a blue light. The edges of this seem to definitely posses a blue glow. I was just wondering peoples thoughts on this, or if others believed there were underlying spiral arms present. Thank you
