Can anyone explain that spike pointing towards the upper-left corner?

It kind of looks like this galaxies is connected to a galaxy just out of view by a trail of stars.

There is probably another galaxy nearby affecting it.

There seems to be a nearby galaxy with a similar z-index. Does that imply they are at approximately the same distance from us?
And the direction of the spike is perpendicular to the direction of the distrubing galaxy. Do you know why that is?

The z (redshift) indicates that they would be at a similar distance. You can also use the photoz, though it isn't as accurate. As for modeling the collision, let's say that they can get very complicated!
