What would account for the varying colors of these bodies? I would assume everyone they are all galaxies, and as a result, would conclude that chemical composition it too varied to account for the color of an entire galaxy as it could for a star. Would this be the result of a blue and red shift due to the trajectories of these galaxies?

The oval fuzzy things are galaxies slightly red with distance. The round things are stars in our galaxy. The lower one is a white star, and the upper one is a blue star. See this links for explanations. Cheers 😃
