Starburst galaxy

    Hi,
Have a look at this Starburst. It is very interesting.

A square is missing the red colour, a software error when they images were joined together. These artifacts happen, I hardly notice them anymore.

It's in SDSS that the image looks really exciting! Could there be an overlap with two objects in the same line of sight: A starburst area and the edgeon NGC 7074. But the strange thing is that the blue object which looks nearer has a slightly higher redshift ( z= 0.012) than the edgeon (z= 0.011) and subsequently ought to be farther away. Maybe the bright, blue light is shining through the galaxy. Or perhaps it's just one object?

You are right, it is amazing.

Thanks. Since this is a galaxy with a denomination I could have looked it up to start with. NGC 7074 was mentioned two years ago in Galaxy Zoo Talk. Evidently the bright, blue part of the galaxy is starformation triggered by merging galaxies.
