I don't know whether this is a dust lane or a imaging anomaly, but I see a straight line across the galaxy. I assume its an imaging anomaly but I've never see a line cutting across a galaxy. It looks as if the line is making the transition across the lower galactic region. Plese give me your opinion on this.

You are correct, it is an optical artifact, probably some malfunctioning ccds.
