Is that bright thing near the core a supernova?

Yes it is a supernova,we use them to calculate the distance between galaxies.

Not sure that is a supernova ! It is most probably a foreground star from our gaalxy.

Definitely not a supernova. It is present in both SDSS and in DECaLS, 10 years apart. Supernovae are transitory.

Looks like a foreground star, but referenced everwhere as (compact) galaxy. Here are two spectra of which the lower one is from the central (starlike) object only;
Also a target from GAIA DR1, might help but i don't know how to access that yet.
