Bright star not present in SDSS DR5 image, DECaLS only 2 colors yet.

No, and such a bright star should be visible in even DR5 / DR6, ive posted it in the unreported SNe thread.
Funny detail; this one is visible in the discovery image of SN 2016fts 😃 , see link in thread

I don't think that that is the discovery image of SN 2016fts. It is just a convenient image.
Google has already indexed your post, as I found out when I searched for the supernova.

Ah ok, I saw another image and thought that one to also count as the discovery image. It is actually in the archival image for comparison with the discovery image.

Don't know really where i can search for SNe for every available year with searching for IC 1780 really.
Also it looks rather white instead of blue / green. And very faint in comparison to SN 2016fts.Posted
