odd arms

This appears to have a bar with two arms embedded within a disk of light. The truly odd thing is that the two arms are brighter than the center of the galaxy. What is happening here? I have looked at several hundred galaxies and I do not recall having seen this before. Curtis

That looks like a nuclear ring, an area of star formation close to the nucleus.
