what sort of galaxy is this?

This obviously is a very distant object, and the light blue coloration indicates star formation. We see these galaxies frequently and I understand that the violet, blue and green tinges indicate also large amounts of oxygen and other essential "life sustaining" elements. Does the disturbed spiral configurations indicate a merger, a collision or agn? Or all the above?
