Radio Source / second "TAFFY" galaxy pair
-
SDSS / NVSS Contour image looks as if the source is exactly in the center of both galaxies. Is this due to the resolution of NVSS or does it mean there is actually a (strong) background source / galaxy that is emitting the radio signal?

Hmm I seem to have found the answer already, the pair is the second 'Taffy' galaxy pair, and are connected by a synchrotron radio bridge. So not a background source. Much better contour images can be found in the article
