Blue patch under galaxy

Interesting blue patch. I wonder why it has 3 ObjIDs

Yes, not the usual starforming or background galaxy colour, much darker blue / magenta and amorphous shape.
And as MirceaPteancu indicated there is also a smaller cloud on the other side although it is greener. If you imagine drawing a line between them it seems it would go through the center of main galaxy. So maybe there is even a symmetric relation there.

3 circles

All 3 circles have the same ID ?

circles on the other side. same number?

Maybe SDSS got smart for once and figured it's one object.

Well I wish that it is darker blue. But I think we will call in a scientist.

Hmm. The SDSS object identifier can do odd things on faint irregular blobs, and it lists three sets of magnitudes corresponding to the three photometric objects. I don't think it's blue enough or has a spectrum peaked enough to say "emission lines" - the errors listed on gri magnitudes are 0.1-0.3 magnitude, which even allow the spectrum to have no peaks in these filters. (This was a subtle find - I have to view my monitor just right to see this thing in the SDSS composite image).

Sorry for this thread derailment, but I caught this one over on GZ 3D : https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/klmasters/galaxy-zoo-3d/talk/576/208012?page=1&scrollToLastComment=true
There is this purple patch that looks suspiciously like a #voorwerpje
Would you care to take a look ? 😄

For convenience I also made a candidate Voorwerp thread:

Did this get investigated?

AFAIK no updates are given on targets / observations but the odd exceptional case?
Even then looking at the latest paper on cross-ionization these things take years from flagging to paper.
