Is it a coincidence

  It looks like the red dot on the right is attracting the blue mass. Is this actually happening or just the angle the photo is at?

  Simulated galaxy from Illustris http://www.illustris-project.org/ the site has information about the project - the plethora of local stars (in any real or fake image) will contribute to artifact events.

  This is indeed a simulated galaxy from the Illustris data set. And they are set in real backgrounds so they look more real. The red dot to the right is a foreground star from our galaxy and si it cannot in any way influence the galaxy which is so much farther away !
