Merger or Overlap

I think overlap, but amazing image of two two galaxies. A squashed overlap? The sky location is in the Milky Way, so the star field is dense, and everything looks red.

There are many galaxies behind the stars. I wonder if it is a galaxy cluster? All the fuzzy orange blobs are galaxies.

Dr Keele thinks the squashed overlap is worth a second look.
Overlaps are useful, because the light of one galaxy shines though another, and we can learn the compostion of the second galaxy.
