Definitely an artifact on the image! It's probably so green because it's only in the 'r' band image. Zooming in it doesn't look like a star spike or a read out error, so it's hard to know for sure what caused this particular artifact. I zoomed out from the image in the skyserver

I see another green streak and one in red (from another filter), it almost looks like a shooting star, but not quite.Posted

It seems to me that it's the same line that changes from one colour to the other with a gap in between the two colours red and green. Wouldn't that indicate a moving object that was captured through two different filters during its course?
Also the width of both lines changes at fairly regular intervals, as if the object was wobbling.
