Looks like an exploding star

  on first glance, this looks as if it could be a collision between 2 objects. Anyone wish to help me explain what it is I am looking at?

  it's a star, and the strange effects are optical artefacts, sorry 😉

  it does look like something exploding, but it is beautiful. I love all the different colors it has and how bright they are.
