Possible jet?

  The object looks like an elliptical galaxy, but with a jet emerging vertically downwards from just to the right of centre. Or could the jet be an artifact from something below the picture and directed upwards?

  no I do not think so from a star just out of the picture I think

  If you click on the object link, then Examine this SDSS object, you can go from there to the SkyServer, where zooming out will show that there's a star just off the image that's causing this spike to appear.
