With my limited experience this item does not seem to fit the set descriptions for a galaxy. It seems to be ejecting material in all directions. All advice and comments welcome.

It's a #star. The lines you see are diffraction peaks from the bright point source interacting with the telescope aperture. The correct classification is star/artifact (on the first question).
