I take it these are two merging galaxies, I am new at this so would appreciate confirmation that that is what I am looking at. They look like they are performing a pirouette.

It does look like a #merger and a lovely example.

The centre of the right hand object looks like it has two gas? clouds which make it look like it has wings.

I suspect that is a dust lane making the yellowish light look redder (and fainter).
