Even in viewed in "invert" this is too distant to classify easily without a colour code. What should I call it? It does not appear round. Any guidance appreciated.

If it isn't clear, I call it an artifact, in style with the message board guidelines posted for new observers.

It would be nice to have a "too distant / faint to classify accurately" option.

I looked for the forum topic, but after a minute, gave up. It's there, though. there were several examples of artifacts, several of which were clearly galaxies, but so distant as to render classifying them pointlesss. They could wellhave spiral arms, but you just can't see any detail because of distance. Anything you comment on them would likely be inaccurate, so in my opinion, best to wait for better images of that.

Thanks for the comment PDXDave, I came to that conclusion when I saw a few more - I thought because although they could be one thing or another the team could be wasting telescope time checking them out.
