The central object seems to be a #star, which overlaps the galaxy.

what is the blue stuff?? is it a trail of dust left over from forming the stars? sorry, not an expert, but one of my dream jobs is to be. 😃

This is a great merger and the blue/purple is very likely to be a voorwerpje. Read the comments below for more info
