T "object" with long diffuse tail?

I'm puzzled by this photo. There is internal structure, but there appears to be some part of this "galaxy" far beyond what might otherwise be a side-on disk. Then there is another "galaxy", almost at right angles? Are these entirely unconnected - there's no obvious tidal effect near to the "join"?

The inverted T with long diffuse tail has several concentrated areas within it. Perhaps two side-on disk galaxies at different distances?

With these distortions, I'm thinking merger with lovely dustlanes !

i am i seeing this right? the main dust lane wraps around the smaller interacting galaxy at the end?

My guess is the galaxies are beginning to merge and the bottom right part of the larger galaxy is starting to wrap around the small one.
