  I think that ring galaxies are created from well centered galaxy collisions, where one passes though the center of the other. The result is generally a star-burst ring of hot blue stars resulting from gas compressing into the ring.

  I don't see a blue star-burst ring, but it is amazingly round and smooth. I would guess an elliptical.
