Why Does SDSS Skyserver Says It has no Galaxy Spectrum?

  • sharadpednekar by sharadpednekar

To my eye, after seeing thousands of SDSS pictures and hundreds of spectra, this object is clearly a large ellipsoidal gobbling a smaller galaxy, and I am surprised that SDSS did not get a spectrum that would indicate a galaxy. What's it then? A star?

Not every galaxy in the SDSS survey has its spectrum taken.
This is most definitely a galaxy !
