A bar. Its explained in the tutos and also you can choose it from the classification options

If you click through to SkyServer from the examine page and zoom out on the image, it turns out to be an artifact from a nearby star.

To clarify: Vladutz and I are talking about two different things (the bar is perpendicular to the star's diffraction spike).

I'm not sure how to read the SkyServer >_< (lol it looks like another language) -could it be a Quasar?

On closer examination the spike extends above and below the bar. Is there an explanation for that?
