merger?

Not sure what's going on here? Tidal forces? Merger? irregular? Tough to classify.

I agree, it is an interesting object. Why the dark line bisecting it? Is that a dust lane? Is it blowing apart into two portions along that fracture line? There are stars that explode into two cone-shaped debris patterns in a nebula, but this is classified as a Galaxy on SkyServer.

Hard to make sense of this ... it has the look of a nebula but SkyServer says Galaxy. Very #irregular or #disturbed.
