Disturbed or artifacts?

  The central galaxy looks disturbed. There is a roughly conical area of different brightness above the nucleus. Not sure if these effects are real or if these are just artifacts.

  Another one that shows a lot of bright regions around the central galaxy. Perhaps the final stages of a merger?
