#WOW!!! #ring #beautiful This is a collisional ring; one galaxy has passed through the other. PeterD wrote about this kind of collision in today's Object of the Day, in the forum:

http://www.galaxyzooforum.org/index.php?topic=280430.0Big question is Jean, Is it the same kind of collision? In his catalogue Arp distinguishes 146 - this - from 148 which is the same sort that I was writing about in the Forum.
The question is: is this an evolutionary stage in the process of which Arp 148 and AHZ20002jw are probably part. I wondered whether this is more similar to Hoag's Object ...
Thanks for the plug!
