This is by far one of the most stunning Galaxy's I have come across in Galaxy Zoo and yet most of the image appears to have been "cut" out. Why is that?

i dont know why its cut. But the Picture is not about the bright spiral Galaxy. It is centered on a blue bulk in a part of a Spiral arm. Check out the SkyServer links, i hope they´ll will work: http://skyserver.sdss3.org/dr8/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=1237668589723910207
or here can you see the full shape of the Galaxy:

I use #blankpart when posting such images.
klmasters from the science team informed about the reason in another discussion.:It's related to how we made the images by cutting them out of larger atlas images, instead of using the (slightly lower quality) postage stamps. This was near the edge of an atlas images, so ended up getting cut off.
