Very bright galactic nucleus?

This appears to have a very bright center to it. Just putting it out here for anyone- such as myself - that is interested in QSO's etc. I would like to know nif this is a galay or a QSO.

SDSS has this as a galaxy. http://skyserver.sdss3.org/dr8/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?id=1237680243065094193 It's big; bright core alone is about 10" in diameter, with a bright ring. ??
Would be much brighter if the gas and dust weren't obscuring the centre. No spectra. Would be good to have x-ray....Posted

If most galaxies have black holes at their center, I wonder to what extent one may have effected how this galaxy is structured.

This is interesting and informative. Even I understood some of it 😃 http://hubblesite.org/hubble_discoveries/science_year_in_review/pdf/2006/a_new_population_of_active_galactic_nuclei.pdf

I am also a newbie, so can I ask: if there's a black hole at the centre, could the very bright ring at the outer rim of the nucleus be caused by lensing of the super hot core at the edge of the black hole in the centre? A bit like a perfect Einstein ring seeing the core head on. Apologies if That is a silly question, but curious to find out... 😃

The very bright ring is just an optical artifact, no lensing I'm afraid ! 😃

Good morning ElisabethB 😃 thanks for that. Another theory bites the galactic dust. Oh well... Next time eh? 😉
