A Lovely Starburst, Barred Galaxy. But What Caused the Starburst?

It is a pity that this galaxy, NGC 2389, did not have its spectrum determined by SDSS. It looks large and if you lookat the SkyServer data, there is another equally large but strangely reddish galaxy in the same part of the sky, SE as this picture stands. Perhaps, the two are in a merger dance?
