Hubble Image Classifying

I have trouble understanding how exactly the images were taken, assembled, and made available for GalaxyZoo classifications. I say this because often I cannot figure out if the image is real, only partly real with some noise, or just noise. Often, you see that there is a definite object, but it is not symmetrical, neither does the assymetrical part look like a trail. Then, another object looks like a facetted jewel, but one is hard put to understand if it is a far-off galaxy or a far-off star in our own Milky Way. Does anyone have helpful suggestions? This image, e.g., looks like it was spliced from two different pictures. What looks like a galaxy--the blue blot in the left diagonal half-- is not at the center of the square. So, what am I to analyze--the multicolored specks or the blue blot? I have all sorts of questions that bug me when I am looking at the Hubble pictures in GZ3.
