dustlane in a disturbed eliptical galaxy

I wonder what happened here to create this rare occurence of a dustlane combined with an otherwise eliptical galaxy. There must have been a merger or other interaction before...

After a few classifications only, I found this interesting object. A distorted dustlane, seen edge on might result from a recent merger ?
