the upper left object is a star. there is no interaction.

Why is there a ring which is significantly dimmer than the center. Why is there a "gap", and why does the center look like a mini spiral?

#spiral, the center contains the bulge from which the arms originate and the disk. the hazy area is dispersed material from the arms
