Round cloudy area around disk?

  This beautiful galaxy is confusing to me, because it seems to have two shapes in one. There is a disk, or maybe cigar-shaped galaxy, on the "inside," but also apparently a diffuse spherical region of stars around it.

  this is a polar ring lenticular and yes it has a halo of stars:)
